BAMP Calls For Ramped Up Surveillance in Light of Surge

The Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners sees no need for a return to lockdown but urges intensified testing and careful monitoring in light of a surge in covid-19 cases in Barbados.

President of BAMP, Dr. Linda Williams, was commenting on the recent confirmation by health officials that there is a significant surge in cases here and follows yesterday’s warning from PAHO that some countries may have rolled back restrictions too soon.

Dr. Williams doesn’t believe it’s necessary to reintroduce severe restrictions, but with the festive Crop Over season  ahead, sees the need to tighten surveillance.

Dr. Williams believes adjustments should be made based on the surveillance data.
