Entertainment Sector Wants Position On Crop Over

Key players in this country’s entertainment sector say it’s time government starts giving some indication of what’s the plan for Crop Over next year.

Their call comes as competing festivals start to roll out their plans for 2022, including Trinidad and Tobago who just announced a Festival of Fetes for next August.

With Trinidad and Tobago virtually certain to again have no traditional carnival early in the year, it is planning a Festival of Fetes for August 2022.

This has triggered concern in several other territories that traditionally have mid-year Carnivals, including Grenada and St. Vincent, with Kingstown already having announced plans for Vincy Mass 2022.

These islands are worried about the strong competition they will likely get from the Trinidad event.

President of the Entertainment Association of Barbados Rudy Maloney believes it’s essential that Barbados starts to finalise and articulate its own plans.

Orlando Newton, Event producer and CEO of online event booking and ticketing platform, Ticket Pal, has similar concerns.
