Gun worry

Minister responsible for the Bridgetown Port Kirk Humphrey insists the port is doing all it can to prevent contraband, including illegal guns, being smuggled into the country.

He also appeals to the public to play their part in stamping out the gun violence.

Mr. Humphrey, Minister of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy, was speaking on VOB’s Brass Tacks call-in program. He reacted to an incident in his St. Michael South constituency where two men were injured in a shooting last night.

He stressed that cargo coming through the port is being scanned but suggested that there may be other ways by which the guns are coming in.

Meantime, at the Grotto Housing complex which is near where two men, ages 21 and 29 were shot last night, residents expressed concern about the gun violence.
