Government relaxes dress code for people visiting departments

Government has relaxed the dress code for people visiting all departments.

A memo dated May 6, 2021 from the Head of the Public Service, states that Cabinet expressed concern that restrictive dress codes implemented by a number of Government agencies are preventing some members of the general public from accessing services.

It added that Cabinet has directed that people should not be denied entry to the offices of Government Ministries or Departments, for example, for wearing sleeveless clothing, jeans, shorts or shirts worn outside of pants.

The memo states that concern was also expressed that people arriving to conduct business at Government agencies often do not have prior knowledge that such codes are in place.

Although the changes have only now been announced, Starcom Network News understands cabinet had made the decision some time ago.
