Expect a slow start when Barbados’ land-based tourism sector officially reopens for arrivals from Saturday with strict new protocols in place, but the outlook for the cruise sector looks much brighter as ships sail again from late next month.
This is the indication from Minister of Tourism and International Transport Senator Lisa Cummings, who in an interview with Starcom Network News, highlighted the uncertainty in travel markets due to the covid-19 pandemic.
She says stresses that it’s wise for Barbados to be cautious as there are major risks involved.
Meantime, cruise trips recommence from the end of next month with the requirement that all passengers and crew be vaccinated and the vessels sail at fifty percent capacity only.
Bookings are looking very strong.
