The Barbados Nurses Association wants a pay hike for this country’s nurses.

President of the association Valarie Francis-Miller, in statement today, said she welcomed some of the announcements from the health minister such as a financing overhaul and a strategic plan for public health as well as restoring the stipend for student nurses.

But she listed a number of key concerns including what she believes is the need to pay nurses better.

She sees better pay for nurses as key to solving the problem of a nursing shortage.
