Efforts continue to try resolve a dispute between security company G4S and the Barbados Workers Union and head off threatened industrial action.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley had brought the parties together to try to broker an agreement and when those talks broke down had asked the BWU to hold off on any action for 36 hours pending the government obtaining a legal opinion on its options in the dispute.
Well-placed government sources tell Starcom Network that that opinion has been received and will be discussed at tomorrow’s cabinet meeting before the Prime Minister brings both sides back together to seek a resolution.
In an interview with Starcom Network News, James Devers, Managing Director of G4S English Caribbean Division, said the company is keen to continue talks to try to resolve the issue.
He says he’s hoping for an agreement when those talks resume.
