Floyd Reifer is the Democratic Labour Party candidate to face off against Barbados Workers Union General Secretary Senator Toni Moore in the St. George North by-election.
The cricket coach was unanimously accepted by the Executive and General Council of the Democratic Labour Party at two specially convened meetings at George Street tonight.
Mr Reifer represented both Barbados and the West Indies as a left-handed middle-order batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He played six Tests and eight One Day Internationals for the West Indies.
He was later appointed head coach of the then newly formed cricket team called Combined Campuses & Colleges and also had a stint as head coach of the West Indies team. DLP sources tell Starcom Network News that calypsonian Colin Spencer was also considered as a possible DLP candidate.
