The Barbados Bankers Association is warning the public to be on alert for fictitious websites that might be used to hack into people’s accounts and credit cards.
In a notice issued via the media the banks note that a fictitious website may be asking people to input their login credentials and other personal information.
The bankers association emphasizes in the notice that commercial banks will never send emails with links requesting personal information like account numbers, card expiration dates or any other account information.
The notice states: “Please also refrain from clicking on email links from unknown sources and providing personal or account information on unsecured websites or social media sites. Individuals should immediately report and forward any such emails to your bank to confirm legitimacy”.
