Cleaning Underway at Maurice Byer; No Sickout Says Health Ministry

Some nurses at the Maurice Byer Clinic in St. Peter have been off the job today citing environmental conditions while health officials insist it’s not a sickout but the result of cleaning at the facility to deal with mould.
This morning several of the nurses could be seen standing outside the facility.

One of the nurses spoke to Starcom Network News. She didn’t want to be identified and we disguised her voice.

The nurse says that’s the key issue but is not the only problem.

The nurses are also complaining about what they say has been the non-payment of covid-19 hazard pay.

But Minister of State in the Ministry of Health Dr. Sonia Browne tells Starcom Network some of the staff was unable to work due to cleaning that was underway.
