Government says the development project at the old Edgewater Hotel site in St. Joseph will proceed but negotiations are taking place to resolve the issues that triggered a protest by residents.
The residents have complained that the work will block their access to the Joe’s River gully.
Cultural ambassador Anthony ‘Mighty Gabby’ Carter joined in the protest insisting that the area was a green space that should be preserved.
Attorney General, Dale Marshall, the Member of Parliament for the area, provided residents with an update at the St. Joseph speaks town hall meeting.
He emphasized that the permission granted to the developer cannot be reversed.
Mr. Marshall says he’ll be having talks with those involved in an attempt to broker a resolution that satisfies all sides.
