Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has announced an extension of the deadline for the expiry of the old national identification cards which were to become invalid on June 30th.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in St. Joseph last night Miss Mottley disclosed that both government and their supplier of the new digital ID cards had run out of stock..
She was responding to a complaint from a member of the public.
Miss Mottley disclosed that well over a hundred thousand cards have already been distributed
She said there would be a meeting with the head of the electoral and boundaries commission today to decide on the length of the deadline extension.
