The Barbados Tourism Marketing Incorporated reports progress as it seeks to restore many of the inter-regional air links lost with the demise of LIAT.

In the latest development, BTMI Chair Shelly Williams tells Starcom Network News that

Barbados has made a significant stride through discussions with French airline Air Antilles.

As a result, from April 1st, the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) will welcome a new daily schedule of flights between Barbados and Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique, and Pointe-a-Pitre in Guadeloupe.

Mrs. Williams says Air Antilles airline seats will see a sharp rise from 15 thousand to 35 thousand annually, and the estimated economic impact is derived from increased visitors, daily spend and travel fees. The partnership will also allow for extended airlift directly to the French Caribbean, through Corsair Airline, making connections to Barbados.

She explained the overall efforts restore the air links.
