Government MP Neil Rowe has been charged with rape.

The Member of Parliament for St. Michael North West had been under investigation by the police service for the past several days after a formal complaint was made by a young lady.

Yesterday, along with the cabinet changes, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley announced a new Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly was being appointed.

That is a position that was formally held by Mr. Rowe.

This afternoon the police service confirmed to Starcom Network News that Mr. Rowe has been charged and is to appear in court tomorrow.
