Rape-Accused MP Rowe Released on Bail

Government MP Neil Rowe has been released on 10 thousand dollars bail with one surety after appearing in court this morning on a rape charge.

The M.P for St. Michael North-West concealed his face with a black scarf as he was escorted into court surrounded by police officers.

After being granted bail, Mr. Rowe who has been replaced as Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, exited the court accompanied by Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Labour Party Senator Patricia Parris and longstanding party member David “Mockie” Waldrond and was greeted by constituent Horace Bailey.

Mr. Rowe’s next court date is January 30th and he has been told to stay away from the complainant.

Speaking during the arraignment Mr. Rowe’s attorney, Roger Forde K.C, told the court he was concerned about police reports allegedly being leaked to the public.

He repeated that displeasure about certain events while addressing members of the news media outside the court.
