Residents at Emerald Park West St. Philip are in shock over the death of a neighbor, a female prison officer, who was allegedly murdered by her husband.
Police say they responded to the residence after receiving a report about 4:55am that a domestic dispute between a man and a woman was in progress and that a female was believed to be dead at the scene.
Police responded and on arrival were pointed to an area of a residence where the motionless body of a female was found.
The deceased has been identified as 52 year old Daphne Thomas, an officer at Dodds Prison.
Police say a man is assisting with investigations into the matter, a reference to her husband, a night watchman, who was transported to the hospital for medical attention after attempting suicide.
When Starcom Network News visited the scene the family was too distraught to speak but residents expressed shock over the matter.
