Government criminologist Kim Ramsay sees need for action to be taken to address the underlying issues that she says are creating a breeding ground for gang activity and criminality in general in some communities.
Miss Ramsay was speaking during the launch of her latest booked entitled: The Unspoken – A Glimpse of Gang and Street Culture in Barbados.
She notes the recent truce brokered between certain gangs while pointing out there have long been gangs operating in this country and that such truces have occurred previously in areas such as the Pine, St. Michael.
Miss Ramsay says certain issues are creating a breeding ground for crime.
