Minister of Agriculture, and Food and Nutritional Security, Indar Weir says that government will still be involved in the local sugar industry although it has announced plans to transition the sector to private sector ownership.
Mr. Weir explains to Starcom Network News that even though government will no longer be carrying majority of the financing towards the sector, but it will still maintain a small set of those shares.
He adds that those working in the industry will remain employed during the transition.
