Yet another major Barbadian property has reportedly been sold to Trinidadian interests and is to be turned into a shopping mall and hardware store.

Starcom Network News understands that the eleven acre former Banks Breweries Complex at Wildey, St. Michael has new owners who have commenced the renovations and conversion to what will be Barbados’ newest mall.

The complex had remained disused and on the real estate market for many years.

A previous attempt by a local church group to purchase the property some years ago reportedly fell through when the proposed buyer was unable to come up with the additional 12 million dollars needed to complete the purchase of the complex after a million dollars had been paid as a deposit.

The People’s Cathedral had said at the time it intended to use the vast property to construct a new church, a school and other facilities, but that deal failed.

A real estate notice had stated the property was an 11.5 acre site, with over 12 hundred feet of frontage onto Highway 6.
