The Barbados Police Service has reported an overall reduction in crime in 2021 in comparison with the previous year.
Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce says overall crime is down 23 per cent with a 22 per cent reduction in murders.
Speaking this morning during the Barbados Police Service’s Annual Grand conference, Mr Boyce said that focus has been placed on reducing the number of firearms on the streets which he notes is still a concern.
He also revealed that there has been a significant decrease in drug related offences.
The Attorney General, Dale Marshall, who gave the feature address expressed his satisfaction with the reduction in crime.
Mr. Marshall, however, stressed the need to focus on investigating human trafficking.
