President of the Entertainment Association of Barbados, Rudy Maloney, has welcome government’s announcement of the return of Crop Over this year.
The Pic-O-De-Crop calypso competition returns, along with a modified Kadooment, as the Crop Over Festival resumes after a two-year break due to the covid-19 pandemic.
While noting there are stakeholders who do not fully agree with all the new changes, Mr. Maloney stresses that the world is still being impacted by the coivd-19 pandemic and it’s not business as usual.
He says he’s hoping to have Soca On The Hill this year, given the size limit increase for events.
Chief Executive Officer of South Central Entertainment and Head of Baje International, Richard Haynes, says he is every excited to finally have Crop Over this year.
He says they are now in process of doing all the preparations to ensure that the band has a successful Grand Kadooment jump.
He also gave his take on the two new Grand Kadooment routes.
Meantime, Event producer and Chief Executive Officer of Ticket Pal Caribbean, Orlando Newton, said he is happy about there being crop over this year.
He however suggested that greater consideration be given to the traditional Grand kadooment route.
President of the Barbados Masqueraders Association, Anthony Layne, says details on the routes for kadooment day are still being discussed with the relevant authorities.
