A 23-year-old Barbadian woman was reportedly shot and killed in Guyana last night.

According to Guyana media reports, Shanicka Forde and her 26-year-old Guyanese boyfriend, Daniel Fraser who was also killed, were on their way home from a shop on his motorcycle when an unknown gunman opened fire around 11:30 p.m. in the area of ‘B’ Field Sophia.

Miss Forde was said to be on vacation and staying with a friend in South Sophia and, recently developed a relationship with Fraser, a Lance Corporal in the Guyana Defence Force. He lived in ‘A’ Field.

According to reports the gunman, who was on a bicycle, reportedly shot at them six times before escaping.

Both fell off the motorbike and were later picked up by Fraser’s brother and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital in a taxi where they were pronounced dead.

Shanicka Forde was scheduled to return to Barbados today.
