‘Brexit Watch’

In a move with potentially significant implications for Barbados due to now certain Brexit, yesterday’s general elections in this country’s biggest tourism market has returned the conservatives and Brexit Hawk Prime Minister Boris Johnson to power.

Following the election win, Prime Minister Boris said Britain would leave the European Union on January 31st, next year.

His defeated rival, Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn indicated he would be stepping down.

Political Scientist, Peter Wickham says the outcome of the election came as a huge surprise for him and was not consistent with the trends showing in the polls in the lead up to the general election.
