Shooting victim succumbs to injuries

A St. Michael man has died in hospital hours after being shot multiple times at Bayville, St. Michael in the early hours of yesterday morning.

According to reports, 33-year-old Leandrew Coward, known by friends and family as “Barr” was shot as many as twelve times about 2:18 am while he was at Jessamy Avenue, a short distance from his home at 2nd Avenue, Paddock Road, St. Michael.

He succumbed to his injuries at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday.

The deceased was the father of a thirteen-year-old girl and lived at Paddock Road with relatives including his aunt and two cousins.

One of those cousins tells Starcom Network News that he was shocked to hear his relative had been shot because he thought he was in bed sleeping.

Mr. Coward was said to have been employed with the government’s seaweed clean-up program and his relatives and neighbours said he was in their words a ‘cool’ person.

The police have been trying to identify the body of a man discovered floating in the careenage this morning.

Police public relations officer, acting Inspector Rodney Inniss briefed Starcom Netrwork News from the scene.
