QEH clears the air on child COVID-19 related death

Head of Medical Services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Dr. Clyde Cave has confirmed the death of a nine-year-old girl due to COVID-19 complications.

This is the first death of a child from the virus in Barbados and it resulted from a rare syndrome MIS-C, multi-system inflammatory syndrome, which was first detected internationally last year from children with COVID-19.

He said initially it is hard to detect it in children.
