G4S strike

More than a hundred employees of the security firm G4S went on strike this morning in protest over a number of outstanding issues they say date back several years.

The security officers say the issues include lack of adequate pay, including for overtime, and lack of entitlement to vacation.

President of the G4S Division of the Barbados Workers Union, Ormond Mayers, vowed the workers would keep up the industrial action until management agreed to meet with the workers’ representative, the BWU.

Efforts to reach Senior management of the Security firm for a response to the protest action were unsuccessful up to news time.
