Prime Minister Mottley may have a tough task in convincing public servants to accept the forced savings concept she hinted at last week, which government employees are seeing as a pay cut by a different name.
Speaking at a news conference after a meeting of the social partnership last week, Ms. Mottley spoke of the need to cut costs in the public sector in the face of a $450 million revenue shortfall.
She floated the issue of public sector workers being given bonds as a form of what she called forced savings.
But acting General Secretary of the National Union of Public Workers Delcia Burke tells Starcom Network News, that’s not likely to be an easy sell to her members.
