This country’s fisher-folk are to get business interruption benefits for a further three months.
This has been announced by Minister of the Environment and National Beautification, the Green and Blue Economy, Adrian Forde.
He tells Starcom Network News cabinet yesterday approved the additional payments for boat-owners and their crews whose livelihoods were disrupted by Hurricane Beryl.
Mr. Forde also disclosed that 45 of the storm-damaged boats have been repaired and relaunched taking the fishing fleet to 145 vessels that are back in the water.
He advises those eligible people who have not yet received their benefits to contact his ministry.
Mr. Forde also stated that work has started on a breakwater to shelter the boats and that work should be completed by the middle of next year.
