Strong economic/fiscal performance in first half of financial year

Government reports a strong fiscal and economic performance for the first half of the financial year with tax revenue up and expenditure down and all targets on track to be achieved.

This has been disclosed by Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn, delivering a ministerial statement in the House of Assembly where he provided a mid-year report on progress against the fiscal framework and the annual budget as required by law.

Government’s revenues increased due to strong corporate tax and land tax earnings, despite lower income tax receipts.

Meanwhile, expenditure decreased as delayed capital works projects resulted in lower-than-planned capital expenditure
