Government confirms that it will be defending its position on the proposed Cyber Crime Bill at a hearing of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights next month, but Attorney General Dale Marshall points out that any recommendations from that session will not be binding on the government.
He also tells Starcom Network News that the bill has been extensively reviewed and some of the issues to which some of the concerned citizens objected may have already been addressed.
Mr. Marshall was responding to the announcement yesterday by a group of concerned citizens that the Washington-based Commission had agreed to hear their concerns on November 11th.
He disclosed that government learnt on October 1st, that documents had been filed at the Commission but only found out yesterday as a result of the news conference, who the objectors were.
Mr. Marshall also stresses that a select committee of parliament has been reviewing the bill and taking recommendations for adjustments.
