Days after a cyber breach, this country’s largest credit union is assuring its thousands of members that their funds are safe and that the hack is being dealt with.
President of the Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited, Mark Hope, tells Starcom Network News that the debit card breach was limited to a small number of members but in error an alert was sent out to the entire membership triggering widespread concern.
Mr. Hope insists that the credit union’s systems are in order and its members’ funds are secure.
Meantime, Starcom Network News has learnt that the Financial Services Commission as well as an accounting firm are currently conducting what’s described as a routine examination of the credit union’s operations.
