Husband of murdered prison officer put in segregation at Dodds Prison

A St. Philip man has been remanded to Dodds Prison, on charges of murdering his prison officer wife, but ordered kept in segregation for his protection.

Seventy four year old Whitfield Thomas of Emerald Park West St. Philip, was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge of murdering his wife 52-year-old Daphne Thomas, who was said to be a senior and well liked officer at the prison where the accused is now detained.

During Thomas’s appearance at the District C magistrate Court at Oistins today, his lawyer Rasheed Belgrave made a petition to Magistrate, Joyann Clarke, for his protection or segregation while in remand at the prison.

The attorney spoke to Starcom Network News outside the court.
