More DLP members threaten to quit

In the wake of three high-profile resignations, another member of the Opposition Democratic Labour Party says he’s resigning while yet another threatens to quit.

Following the departure from the party of former Opposition Senator Tricia Watson, former DLP candidate and Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner and former Chair of the DLP Women’s league, Stacia Browne, long-time DLP member Errol Hurley tells Starcom Network News he has already written his resignation letter and plans to hand it in tomorrow.

Meantime, Undine Whittaker, a member of the DLP Executive Council, hints at her possible resignation after having received a warning letter from the party’s new leadership.

Miss Whittaker, a former DLP general election candidate and adviser to former Prime Minister’s Thompson and Stuart, has written the party’s acting President and acting General Secretary, insisting she has done nothing wrong and is entitled to freedom of speech.

She was warned about highly critical comments she made after being denied entry to the Sunday session of the party’s annual conference.

Miss Whitaker insists she’s taking a stand on principle.

Miss Whittaker tells Starcom Network News that being locked out of the party headquarters is a serious matter and hints that she may be the next to quit the party.
