NCF disputes claims in viral Junior Monarch post

The National Cultural Foundation disputes the account of an alleged incident on the sidelines of last night’s Crop Over Scotia Bank Junior Monarch Calypso contest over which court action is threatened along with a possible legal challenge to a contestant’s placing.

The alleged incident involved contestant Trinity Clarke and a security guard at the venue. Trinity finished outside of the top positions.

Kings Counsel, Michael Lashley confirms he’s been retained and will be filing a civil case against the security guard.

A post circulated early this morning alleging that an incident occurred when Trinity attempted to use a particular exit.

Kareen Clarke, the mother of Junior Monarch finalist, Trinity Clarke, Speaking on VOB’s Fireworks programme, outlined her side of the story, saying that Trinity has been left distraught over the entire situation.

Meantime, Chief Executive Officer of the NCF, Carol Roberts, also speaking on the VOB Fireworks program disclosed that she had received reports on the incident from the NCF officer in charge of the event as well from a key witness and the security officer in charge, which portrayed the incident in a completely different light than what was portrayed on social media.

Ms. Roberts also stated that the incident happened during the intermission after the performances, while stressing that the judges were unaware of what transpired and, therefore, it had no impact on the scores.
