A parents and students rights group continues to press for a governance overhaul of the Barbados-based Caribbean Examinations Council.
Paula-Anne Moore, the coordinator and spokesperson of the Group of Concerned Parents of Barbados and of the Caricom Coalition for Exam Redress has issued a statement noting the CXC’s reversal of a decision to discontinue four technical and science subjects.
But she believes reform is still needed.
Meantime, speaking on VOB’s Down to Brasstacks call in program, Minister of State in the Barbados Ministry of Education, Sandra Husbands, said that while CXC may have its flaws it has served the region well.
She also told moderator David Ellis that one of the challenges CXC faces is that some governments are having difficulty keeping up with their funding obligations.
