Minister of Youth, Charles Griffith believes there’s a crisis of parenting in this country that’s a major contributing factor to the block culture and crime.
He was speaking as the House of Assembly debated and then adopted the report of the Parliamentary Select Joint Committee on the Child Justice Bill which was then passed.
Mr. Griffith declared that there is – quote – “a problem of baby making” –unquote- in this country with some homes so overcrowded and dysfunctional that young people are then seeking refuge on the streets and the blocks.
He notes government’s plans for a parenting program but sees the need for even earlier interventions.
