A private sector led regional ferry service is to be launched by August this year operating out of Barbados.

This has been revealed by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Pleion Group, Dr. Andre Thomas.

He held a news conference in Bridgetown today where he also revealed a partnership with the CARICOM Private Sector Organization (CPSO )and a major shipping company based in the United Arab Emirates.

He said they expect to get 10 vessels under this new arrangement.

The partnership has accelerated plans for the launch.
