There will be a new Grand Kadooment route for Crop Over 2024.
The announcement has been made by the President of the Barbados Association of Masqueraders, Jason Thompson, at the Crop Over media launch at Ilaro Court.
He notes that the stakeholders including the NCF, the bandleaders and the security services have met on the matter.
Mr. Thompson says it was recognized that there’s a need for wider roads as well as provision for party zones and having a system that can be easily managed by the police and armed forces.
The new route starts at the old Helipad in Bridgetown and proceeds onto Hincks Street, heads in the direction of the Princess Alice Highway, passing Pelican Village and making the right turn onto Prescod Boulevard, travelling along the Harbour Road, continuing down to the Elsie Payne Roundabout, making the right turn at the roundabout, passing Kensington Oval, heading up President Kennedy Drive to Eagle Hall, making the left turn at Eagle Hall, travelling along Black Rock main road to the Frank Worrell Roundabout at the bottom of University Hill, parading down the Mighty Grynner Highway and ending in the area of Kensington Oval.
