Driving tests at the Barbados Licensing Authority have restarted, however some instructors today raised concern over the competency of newly assigned testing officers.
Testing officers at the Ministry of Transport and Works were off the job yesterday complaining of being understaffed and overworked. Tests were then cancelled for the day.
Starcom Network News understands that the driving instructors arrived to find three new testing officers this morning, and questioned whether those individuals have been trained.
Public Relations Officer of the Barbados Driving Schools Association, Erskine Cumberbatch says they were given the assurance that the new officers are qualified to do the job.
He says they will be monitoring the new officers going forward.
Meantime, the Barbados Licensing Authority confirmed that testing has restarted and says it is going smoothly so far.
They said in a statement that driving tests are being conducted by qualified and competent staff who were reassigned to carry out the task.
