A number of employees of Inchcape Barbados, formerly Simpson Motors, are reportedly on a sick-out over pay related matters.
One of the workers told Starcom Network News that some of his colleagues in various departments including the automotive mechanics and the parts department were out from work today.
He told us management and representatives of the Barbados Workers Union met last Friday over the grievances.
Starcom Network News was unable to reach the management of Inchcape Motors for a comment.
However, the Barbados Workers union, which represents the Inchcape workers insists that it has not taken any industrial action at the company.
But, the BWU’s Communications Manager, Cheyne Jones confirms that there was a meeting held last Friday with the management at Inchcape to address the grievances of workers.
Although he did not disclose what those issues were, Mr. Jones said the union has not taken any action as negotiations between the two parties are ongoing.
