Woman With B’dos Diplomatic Passport Charged for Drug Smuggling

Starcom Network News has confirmed that a young woman, said to be the daughter of a Member of Parliament has been formally charged for drug trafficking.

The accused is 21-year-old Tonneil Rowe of Tudor Bridge, St. Michael.

She was arrested at the Grantley Adams International Airport after she arrived on a flight from Canada, allegedly with 31 kilograms of cannabis, commonly called marijuana, in her luggage.

She was travelling on a diplomatic passport.

Starcom Network News understands the children of Barbados MPs are entitled to diplomatic passports up to the age of 24.

The marijuana which has a street value of BDS $243,600 was wrapped in 61 packages.

Miss Rowe is due to appear in court today to answer to the charges.

She is being represented by Senior Counsel, Michael Lashley.
