Over 50 Barbados fire officers will by the end of the week be equipped with the kills to manage electric fires.

The one-week training program which began today at the Arch Hall Fire Station is being conducted by the Fire Wise UK Learning Academy.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Minister of Home Affairs and Information, Wilfred Abrahams said the purpose of the training is to prepare the Fire Service for the inevitable given the increasing number of electric vehicles in Barbados.

He says the fire service will also have the equipment to deal with these fires.
