Electrical Fire at QEH

Electrical Fire at QEH

Some departments at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital had to be evacuated today due to an electrical fire but officials stress that the facility has electrical power and patient care and visiting hours have not been affected.

A spokesperson for the QEH tells Starcom Network News that fire officers responded and contained a fire that broke out in the hospital’s electrical room around 2:05 PM.

He says that as a precaution, a few departments near the back entrance of the hospital were evacuated.

The QEH also emphasizes that electricity across the hospital plant has not been affected and patient care has not been compromised.

However, the electrical supply to the QEH’s accounts department was deliberately shut off to prevent damage to equipment.

QEH management say they are continuing assessment of the damage caused.

There has been no change to visiting hours and the hospital remains open to care for patients.
