Flooding and Property Damage in Bdos From Tammy

There was heavy flooding in areas across Barbados, while some  homes were damaged when trailing bands from Hurricane Tammy brought storm like conditions.

Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams led a team that toured some of the affected areas.

Mr. Abrahams listed some of the reports.

The Home Affairs Minister tells Starcom Network News the National Emergency Operations Center, NEOC, was partially activated to provide coordination and support as a result of the impacts of Hurricane Tammy.

The Fire Service rescued a 79 year old victim from a vehicle at Black Rock, St. Michael.

Meanwhile, a house collapsed at White Hill, St. Andrew and the Ministry of Social Care is assisting the affected.

The NEOC received 24 incident reports which included property damage, mainly roofs.

Several roads were impassable and the flooding temporarily trapped a number of people in their homes and vehicles.
