Alarm in Barbados Over New Psychoactive Drug

Government and the National Council on Substance Abuse have launched an investigation into what officials say is the arrival of a new psychoactive substance on the island.

This follows a number of videos circulating on social media which show some people exhibiting what was described as strange and abnormal behaviours after using a substance which is being examined.

Deputy Manager with the NCSA, Troy Wickham, says the findings will be revealed very soon.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a workshop on a new narcotics early warning system.

Director of the Forensic Sciences Centre, Cheryl Corbin, explained the significance of the investigation, saying that it cannot be rushed.
