Education Reform Needed Says PM

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has been re-stating some of the reasons why she sees a need for reform of this country’s education system.

Consultations continue on the planned overhaul, reportedly including replacing the common entrance exam with a new system for transitioning students from primary to secondary school.

Addressing the conference of the Caribbean Association of Principals of Public Secondary Schools, Miss Mottley explained why she believes the current system is outdated.

Meantime, President of the Barbados and Caribbean Associations of Principals of Public Secondary Schools, Stephen Jackman, indicated his support for education reform.

He cited some examples to make his point about the need to take a new approach to education to cater to different abilities.
