State Funeral for Sir Lloyd

The House of Assembly today observed two minutes silence and then the sitting was adjourned the until next week as a mark of respect at the passing of former Prime Minister Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford.

Acting Prime Minister and leader of government business in the Chamber, Santia Bradshaw, offered condolences to Sir Lloyd’s family on behalf of parliament and noted that he would be afforded a state funeral.

The Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados, CTUSAB, has joined in the tributes to the late Sir Lloyd.

General Secretary of CTUSAB, Dennis Depeiza, notes Sir Lloyd’s contribution to the development of Barbados.

 

Mr. Depeiza credits Sir Lloyd for being a catalyst in the formation of the social partnership through the creation in the coalition of trade unions and staff association in 1991 which was later replaced by CTUSAB .
