Latest figures indicate a significant spike in the covid-19 positivity rate in Barbados over the past two weeks with four deaths being recorded.

The update provided today by the Ministry of Health shows for the period April 29th to May 12th, 228 new cases were recorded from 817 tests at a positivity rate of roughly 28 percent.

Four people also passed away from covid-19 during that period and another seven people remained hospitalised.

In the previous two week period, one hundred new covid-19 cases were recorded from 620 tests at a much lower positivity rate of 16 percent, with one death.

Since the start of the covid-19 pandemic Barbados has recorded a total of more than 107 thousand covid-19 cases and almost 600 deaths.
