Three suspects have been detained two more are being sought while a motorist has suffered serious injuries in a collision with a car that was involved in a police chase in St. Lucy yesterday.
The vehicle the suspects were travelling in overturned and Starcom Network News understands a weapon and a magazine were recovered.
Businessman Charles Lewis was the driver of the car that was struck by the fleeing vehicle.
Mr. Lewis says the occupants of the other car fled.
A statement from the police says that police were carrying out a traffic exercise at Bourbon Road, St. Lucy about 3pm yesterday when a vehicle tried to avoid a police check point and sped away before colliding with another vehicle and overturning.
The five people in the overturned car tried to flee and two escaped on foot while three were taken into custody.
