A leading university academic believes the Barbados government has no choice but to return to the IMF but wonders about the impact of the conditions attached.
University of the West Indies Pro-Vice Chancellor and Professor of Finance Dr. Justin Robinson was responding to last Friday’s announcement by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley that the government will be entering another IMF program to access 340 million US dollars in low-interest loans.
However, Professor Robinson wonders about the conditions that will be attached and the public’s appetite for any more austerity.
